“Climb Not for the World to See You, But to See the World.”
An Inspirational Note for Civil Services Aspirants:
By Dr. Sunil S. Rana
There’s a strange trend among today’s aspirants - we often find people announcing their “study goals” more loudly than actually pursuing them. A table with neatly arranged books, a steaming cup of coffee, a highlighter, and a caption: “12 hours of study today!” - and yet, most of it is for the camera, not the cause.
But the Civil Services Examination (CSE), my dear aspirants, is not a stage to perform for applause. It is a battlefield of patience, purpose, and personal transformation. You don’t climb this mountain so that the world applauds your struggle - you climb it so that you can see the vastness of your own potential.
As the quote beautifully says:it so you can see the world.”
“Climb Not for the World to See You, But to See the World.”
“Don’t climb a mountain for the world to see you. Climb it so you can see the world.”
Your Purpose Defines Your Progress:
If your motivation is external validation, your energy will fade with time. But if your motivation is internal realization, your journey becomes unstoppable.
You’re not preparing for a medal, a rank, or fame - you’re preparing to serve, to transform, and to lead.
Remember what Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam once said:
“Don’t read success stories, you will only get a message. Read failure stories, you will get some ideas to get success.”
The Civil Services journey is not about showing others how disciplined you are - it’s about actually being disciplined even when no one is watching. True preparation happens in silence; only results make the noise.
“Work hard in silence, let success make the noise.” - Frank Ocean
Be Real, Not Relatable:
You don’t have to prove your struggle to anyone. The long nights, the countless revisions, the pages of handwritten notes - let them remain unseen but effective.
There is a difference between pretending to study and actually studying. Between looking focused and being focused.
Stop performing for the world - start transforming yourself for the world.
The Real Test:
Civil Services is not merely an exam of knowledge. It’s a test of character, consistency, and clarity.
It rewards those who:
• Study when distractions tempt them.
• Believe when doubts whisper.
• Persevere when failures strike.
As Swami Vivekananda said:
“Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”
Don’t measure your progress by likes or comments. Measure it by your understanding, your focus, and your resilience. The true achievers don’t need validation - their results speak volumes.
Discipline Over Drama:
There will be days when motivation fades. Remember - discipline is stronger than motivation.
Motivation makes you start; discipline keeps you going.
As Jim Rohn wisely said:
“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”
Make your study room your temple, your books your companions, and your routine your mantra. Every page you read silently today will speak for you tomorrow in the interview room.
Let Your Results Speak:
Let the world be surprised, not informed. Let your actions echo louder than your words.
Don’t tell people you’re working hard - show them through your transformation.
When you finally clear this exam, when your name appears in the list, when you stand at LBSNAA or SVPNPA - that’s when the world will truly see the mountain you climbed.
Till then, keep climbing - not to impress, but to express your best self.
“Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally; it comes from what you do consistently.”
Final Note:
Remember, the real goal is not to be seen studying - but to study so deeply that your success becomes visible without explanation.
As the mountain teaches - the higher you rise, the quieter it becomes.
So, stop showing the world your grind. Let your success story do that later.
Because true greatness is achieved not in being seen, but in seeing clearly - your purpose, your path, and your own strength.
